STIK-PTIK Successfully Hosts AICoPS 2025: Advancing Police Reform Through Knowledge and Global Collaboration
Jakarta, July 15, 2025 — The Indonesian College of Police Science (STIK/PTIK) successfully organized the Annual International Conference on Police Studies (AICoPS) 2025 on Tuesday (15/7/2025). This prestigious international event was attended by 755 participants from various countries virtually, featuring 44 presenters who delivered research papers on the theme of police reform.
The success of AICoPS 2025 was made possible thanks to the active role of Yayasan Meira Visi Persada (MVP), which served as the organizing committee throughout the event. The conference served as a strategic platform to discuss system-based police transformation, education, and capacity building, in line with the 79th Bhayangkara Day, which this year embraces the theme of institutional renewal for the Indonesian National Police in the modern era.
In his opening remarks, Commissioner General of Police, Prof. Dr. Chryshnanda Dwilaksana, M.Si., Head of the Police Education and Training Institute, stressed that police reform is a necessity.
“Reform cannot rely solely on structural and technological changes. It must reach the system, education, and personnel capacity as the foundation of a professional, accountable, and humanist police force,” Chryshnanda stated.
The conference also featured two keynote speakers who broadened participants’ perspectives: Prof. John Cuddihy FRSA from Coventry University, United Kingdom, and Commissioner General (Ret.) Prof. Dr. Rycko Amelza Dahniel, M.Si. With the topic: “Transforming Police Education into a Learning Organization for the Police Reformation.” The session sparked high enthusiasm, as seen in the lively interactive discussion and Q&A.
Adding a global dimension, the conference welcomed speakers from the UK, Iraq, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Indonesia, who explored cutting-edge topics such as Open Source Intelligence (OSINT), the role of social workers in policing, police leadership, the use of AI technology in law enforcement, and police culture and discretion. Each session featured sharp presentations followed by rich discussions that deepened cross-national understanding.
The parallel sessions, held in two rounds, featured 44 research papers exploring crucial themes, including the use of artificial intelligence in criminal investigations, discretion in law enforcement, and strategies to enhance police public service.
To conclude the event, Brigadier General Dr. Joko Setiono, S.H., S.I.K., M.Hum., Director of STIK-PTIK’s Postgraduate Program, delivered a reflective closing statement on the meaning of reform and the importance of public trust.
“Public trust is not something we receive automatically. It must be earned — through transparency, integrity, and a genuine commitment to serve. And this journey is not the responsibility of a single entity. We all share the duty to lead together,” he emphasized.
The successful delivery of AICoPS 2025 further solidifies STIK-PTIK’s role as a driving force in police reform in Indonesia, promoting science-based approaches, international collaboration, and a strong commitment to human-centered and adaptive policing in response to today’s evolving challenges.
